Round Island Celebrates Hosting Holidays for 40 Years!!!

Round Island, located in the sheltered western side of Poole Harbour really is a hidden gem of a holiday location, and its not hard to understand why explains May Palmer, Owner of Round Island.

We are so pleased to be celebrating 40 years of providing self catering holiday cottages on the Island, and we feel very priveleged to be able to open the Island and share it with our Guests.  Our pier faces west towards the R.S.P.B Reserve on the Arne Headland, and our 360 degree views take in the landscape from the Purbeck Hills and Corfe Castle, across to the other Harbour Islands, to the Studland Ferry and round to Poole Quay and the Commercial Port of Poole.

The Island extends to around 15 acres of woodland, lawns and beaches.  The sandy beach has shallow water from where our Guests enjoy a range of water sports, and a pier and pontoon which has hosted many a crabbing championship.  The waters around the Island have an advisory speed limit of 6 knots which goes to maintain the tranquillity of this part of the harbour, protecting our small bays and inlets.

It’s no surprise that this unique location is a hit with local families who return year on year for a convenient  getaway.  Transport to the Island is via a 20 minute journey by our private launch from our Poole Marina base at Lake Yard Marina, Hamworthy.  Furthermore our 3 charming self catering cottages, sleeping between 6, 7 and 8 people each, come with complimentary use of our pontoon and 2 swinging moorings, which makes a retreat to the Island a real adventure for local Boat Owners.

Our full time Caretakers Caroline and Steve live on the Island all year and assist with any queries that Guests may have.  Its unspoilt, and unique.
