Sculpture by the Lakes partners with Dorset Wildlife Trust

Sculpture by the Lakes is proud to be working with Dorset Wildlife Trust to develop a wildlife management plan, in line with the park's dedication to preserving and enhancing its rich biodiversity.

Monique Gudgeon, Garden Director at Sculpture by the Lakes commented: "Every natural species is precious – from our substantial collection of trees and shrubs, to our diverse array of insects and animals which call our park home. Our wildlife management plan involves a deep dive into our operations, ensuring we do everything we can, at the right time, to minimise any adverse impacts to our resident species."

Dorset Wildlife Trust has shared shocking statistics that 1 in 40 species previously present in Dorset are already locally extinct.

The charity runs a Nature Reserves Fund, ensuring its reserves team and volunteers can carry out critical work to enhance and expand its nature reserves. To find out more and donate to the Fund, click here

Monique continued: "We encourage everyone to support the Trust’s critical work in securing a hopeful future for Dorset’s wildlife. Together, we can help turn the tide on nature's decline in our beautiful county."

Sculpture by the Lakes has a thriving array of habitats, from its lakes and ponds to its rich vegetation.

The team also carries out substantial work to encourage biodiversity, including dead hedging, log piling, and planting flowers in the park's own kitchen garden to attract pollinators.

The park's 'Wild Wednesdays' return next spring, where visitors can actively participate in Sculpture by the Lakes' biodiversity monitoring programme with on-site expert, Rebecca.
