Second Community-Led Dorset COP to be hosted at Bournemouth University

Organisers at Dorset COP have announced that its much-anticipated second event is to be hosted by Bournemouth University on Saturday 2 November. Following the successful inaugural event in September 2023 at Dorchester’s Corn Exchange building, Dorset's own community-led ‘conference of the parties’, is coming over to the other side of the county for its second annual event.
Dorset COP is organised by volunteers from Zero Carbon Dorset, Sustainable Dorset, Dorset Climate Action Network, and new to the organising team for the year, East Dorset Friends of the Earth, and This Living Place, an initiative building the resilience of local environmental movements.
One local organisation attending for the second time is Bournemouth-based Efeca who advise organisations on how to make their supply chains more sustainable. Emily Fripp, Founding Director of Efeca, comments, “It is imperative for businesses and citizens to take urgent action on climate change and environmental issues, pushing the conversations forward to ensure meaningful action by policymakers and local government.”
The Dorset COP hopes to attract people, organisations and businesses from all over Dorset. With more of a focus this year on business involvement, several local businesses are supporting and participating in workshops, designed to help businesses become more sustainable, with sessions on achieving B Corp certification, reducing their carbon footprint and so much more. This is a great opportunity for local businesses to come together, to learn, collaborate and inspire.
