South West’s biggest model show

South West Model Show is back at The Tank Museum, 23-24 September with tonnes of fun for the whole family and is kindly sponsored by Airfix.

Alongside the Museum’s collection of 300 military vehicles, visitors can look forward to seeing a display of all types of models, have a go at Scalextric racing, get hands-on by building a tank with Model for Heroes, and meet Doctor Who villains with the Dalek Charity Squad.

Tom Holmes, Events Manager, says: “The Tank Museum is delighted to showcase model building as a fun, family activity that is a great way to learn about history. The Museum is the perfect venue to inspire future projects.”

As the biggest model show in the south west, there is something to suit every age and ability, from talks on how to start model making for novices to photogrammetry workshops by Arts University Bournemouth for advanced modellers.

Visitors can also explore The Tank Museum’s 10 interactive exhibitions, including the new “Tanks for the Memories” exhibition that showcases how tanks have been portrayed as a cultural icon, including through model making and toys.

Children can enjoy the new tank themed outdoor play area, and families can relax with a coffee next to the soft play area and catch a bite to eat in the on-site restaurant.

This exciting event is included in the price for annual pass holders. For more information: tankmuseum.org/model-show
