Special Golf Day Raises Thousands In Support Of Wessex Heart Charity

Golfing enthusiasts dusted off their clubs for a special tournament this month – in support of Wessex Heartbeat.

The event, which took place at the prestigious Remedy Oak Golf Club at Horton in Dorset, was sponsored by Eric Robinson Solicitors – following the law firm’s decision to make Wessex Heartbeat its official partner charity for 2018.

John Munro, chief executive of Wessex Heartbeat, said: “This 9th Golf Day raised a very impressive £16,000, and this will make a huge difference to patients and their families across the Wessex Region.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors Eric Robinson Solicitors and everyone who took part. Events like this help us to fund our life-saving work, and I’m delighted the day was such a huge success.”

Teams competed for the Jim Monro Memorial Trophy, named in honour of a past Wessex Heartbeat chairman and cardiac surgeon. The tournament’s winners – Liberty Leasing A Team – were presented with their award by Jim’s widow, Jane Monro. Liberty Leasing’s ‘On the Dance Floor team’ were named runners up.

Golfers and spectators enjoyed mouthwatering refreshments, thanks to the Halfway House Gin Bar, provided by the Isle of Wight’s Mermaid Gin.

Catherine Maxfield from sponsors Eric Robinson Solicitors, said: “Sadly heart disease affects far too many people across the area we operate in and we’re determined to take action to change that. Sponsoring this fantastic golf event was part of our commitment to support a very worthy local cause that improves the heart health of people across the south.”
