Sunseeker International hosts family festival to thank employees
Posted on: 05/10/2017

To celebrate a successful year, Sunseeker invited employees and their family to join them for a Family Festival on 30th September. More than 4000 people from across the business came together to enjoy a fun-packed day at its New Quay Road Shipyard.
The Poole shipyard was transformed into a family fun fair with several rides, two stages for live music as well as a fire engine display. Children enjoyed face painting, a circus workshop and bouncy castles. A complementary BBQ, refreshments and treat stalls were on offer for everyone.
Guests were given the opportunity to step on board one of six yachts including the fastest selling model of all time, the Manhattan 52, the incredible 95 Yacht and even the all-new 76 Yacht which had its global launch at the recent Southampton Boat Show; one of four new models released this year.
Sunseeker also held a raffle to raise funds for its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support. A range of fantastic prizes were on offer, including a 48” television, signed Southampton Football Club shirt, as well as gift items from the Sunseeker Collection. Sunseeker employees and family raised an incredible £1,335 making a total of £63,510 in just over a year and on course to fund two Macmillan nurses for one year.
Phil Popham, CEO of Sunseeker International, said; “We were delighted to welcome so many colleagues and families to our Family Festival. It was great to see people from all areas of the business come together to enjoy the day and explore some of the yachts on display. We wanted to thank staff for all their hard work and commitment, which has helped us to have another successful year. As well as providing a fun day for our staff, we were also pleased to raise vital funds for Macmillan with our raffle and children’s football competition.”
To support its ambitious growth plans and meet the increase in demand across the model range, Sunseeker is hoping to recruit a further 100 people by the end of the year. Building on its 2,500 strong workforce, Sunseeker is recruiting across its Dorset facilities in a number of disciplines including Carpenters, Electricians, Engineers, GRP specialists, as well as other manufacturing and construction-related roles.
