Dozens of young football fans have written to AFC Bournemouth in a competition held in association with club partner MSP Capital.
The property finance lender and the newly promoted Premier League side have made community support a key focus of their continued partnership this season.
In their letter-writing competition, they invited members of the official young supporters’ group, the Junior Cherries, to share their thoughts on the 2022/23 campaign.
Entrants aged five to 16 years-old were in with the chance of winning a signed training top presented by Dominic Solanke followed by a tour of the Vitality Stadium.
Further incentives included seeing the publication of the winning letter in a matchday programme.
In their letters, the youngsters were encouraged to say how they feel about the new season, who their favourite players are and what league matches they will be most excited to attend.
The winner, chosen jointly by MSP Capital and AFC Bournemouth, was six-year-old George Murphy.
In his letter, George describes himself as a ‘Cherries’ superfan’ who wants to play for the club when he grows up.
George says he lives near to Vitality Stadium, writing: ‘I can hear the crowd at night from my bed when we score‘.
He adds: ‘AFC Bournemouth are the best team in the world. Go Cherries, you’ve got this!’
Martin Higgins, MSP Capital Managing Director, said: “Congratulations to George on his winning letter!
“This was a lovely community competition to start the new season and we look forward to supporting more exciting initiatives as the new Premier League campaign unfolds.”
Rob Mitchell, AFC Bournemouth’s Commercial Director, said: “Well done to George! His letter reflects what thousands of other supporters feel about AFC Bournemouth.
“Junior Cherries are a fundamental part of the club and we really enjoyed receiving everybody’s letters.”
Poole-based MSP Capital is a long-standing partner of AFC Bournemouth. As well as community initiatives this season, the firm’s logo appears on the front of the men’s first-team training wear and the sleeve of the women’s team’s shirts.
MSP Capital has also become an official partner of AFC Business, the Cherries’ popular business club.
