Sustainable shopping just got more fashionable in Winton with the opening of the latest Lewis- Manning Hospice Care Boutique charity shop

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has opened its 6th charity shop on Wimborne Road in the heart of Winton high street.

The shop was officially opened by Charter Mayor of Bournemouth, Cllr Robert Lawton.

After cutting the ribbon Cllr Lawton said, “I’m really pleased to open this magnificent new shop and hope that it makes lots of money for your charity.”

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care’s Retail Area Support Manager Michelle Cooper said, “We are so excited to be opening our latest shop in the heart of Winton high street.

“The shop is boutique style, with a focus on fashionable clothing and accessories for ladies and gentlemen, with the occasional designer item included too. We’re really hoping to stand out in terms of our offering and be bright, vibrant and offer some wonderfully unique and stylish items for sale!

“It’s the best place to come and bag a bargain, but will also be perfect to browse through our quirky ‘bric-a-brac’ home section and perhaps find that interesting gift for a loved one, especially in the run up to Christmas.

“We look forward to welcoming the community over the coming weeks and would urge people to declutter and donate their preloved items to the new shop too. Every bag that is donated is worth around £30! We would love your preloved crockery, ornaments and other household items – please declutter and donate them today! You’d be turning trousers into treatment, bric-a-brac into better breathing and dresses into day hospice.

“Lewis-Manning are enjoying a surge in charity shopping as there is so much more awareness around sustainability nowadays. We are seeing a lot more people actively seeking out ways to shop sustainably, which is fantastic for the environment as giving longer life to clothes is one of the most sustainable actions we can all take.

“Did you know that a single charity shop saves approximately 34 tonnes of textiles from landfill annually and by reusing and recycling things that would otherwise go in the bin, these thrifty national treasures help to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 3.7million tonnes per year. Let’s reduce waste together & start shopping sustainably – all whilst helping your local charity hospice.

“The shops are not only making sustainability more fashionable, but they are fantastic for fundraising, so that we can keep providing extraordinary care to people who really need it.”

About Lewis-Manning Hospice Care

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is in its 30th anniversary year, providing extraordinary care to patients and their loved ones facing a life-limiting illness across Poole, Purbeck and East Dorset. We offer a range of free hospice care services aimed at helping people to live well through their illness, closer to home. These include:
– Day hospices, virtual and in person
– Creative arts & wellbeing support
– Lymphoedema clinic
– Breathlessness clinic
– Bereavement & family support
– Complementary therapy
– Hospice at home

Every year we support around 600 local people and we develop new services, based on patient need and identified gaps in the area. To do this we need to raise over £2.3m every year. Without these funds we could not exist. Our important work increases people’s physical and social well-being, reduces isolation and loneliness, supports people to stay in their homes longer, and alleviates the huge pressures on family and carers.
