Talbot Heath School’s Spellbound 2: A Festival of Literature and Illustration

Books, books and more books… Bournemouth’s second Festival of Literature and Illustration for Children and Young Adults, ‘Spellbound 2’, will be a wonderful day of all things literary on Saturday 17th March, 2018 at Talbot Heath school, Bournemouth.

This single day event is a celebration of children’s and young adult fiction and will take place from 10:30am till 16:00pm in the school and grounds of Talbot Heath. It will be a creative collaboration with the Design, Illustration and Creative Writing departments of the AUB, and will provide a stimulating, fun and lively creative experience for young people of all ages. The continued aim is to offer young readers, writers and illustrators, (from the age of 4 to 18) the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of talks and workshops, and to inspire a love of writing, drawing and reading.

To appeal to young adult readers we have an impressive and diverse range of authors and illustrators; people who know how to tell a story and how to tell it well. These include, Shoo Raynor, popular author and illustrator of early reader’s books. Lou Kuenzler author of the ‘Princess Dis-Grace’ series, and Ali Sparkes, British children’s author (Ali’s books include The Shapeshifter series and has won two Blue Peter awards: “Book I Couldn’t Put Down” and “Book of the Year” for her book, Frozen in Time.) BBC presenter, author and historian, Professor Kate Williams, will also be joining us on the day. In addition, Dr James Cole, Head of Creative writing at AUB will be running writing workshops, and Richard Chasemore, Illustrator and Graphic Design Artist, will also be running a workshop on design and drawing; Richard is a Lucasfilm Licensed Artist who created publishing artwork for Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

It promises to be yet another exciting and spellbinding event!
