Rachel Williams from Zest Lifestyle is sharing this important article to help raise awareness of testicular cancer and encourage more open conversations around men’s health. As a recent speaker at our Health and Wellbeing Sector Forum, Rachel highlighted the importance of proactive wellbeing in the workplace – and this message extends beyond the office.
Here’s your timely reminder of why you’re prioritising your health really does matter:
It’s Testicular Cancer Awareness Month – a crucial time to highlight a disease that, while relatively rare, is the most common cancer in young men aged 15 to 35. The good news is that testicular cancer is highly treatable, especially when caught early. That’s why awareness and education are vital.
Testicular cancer often begins with a lump or swelling in the testicle, a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, or a dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin. These symptoms can easily be overlooked or dismissed, but early detection can be lifesaving. Regular self-examination is a simple but powerful habit that allows men to get to know what’s normal for them and to spot any changes early.
Stigma and embarrassment still prevent too many men from seeking help. It’s time to break the silence and encourage open conversations about men’s health. If you notice any unusual symptoms, speak to your GP – early action is key.
Let’s use this month to spread the word, support those affected, and empower men to take charge of their health. Because one conversation, one check, or one GP visit could save a life.
Have you ever discussed testicular health with the men in your life?
