The BV scoops a Highly Commended at national award ceremony in Mayfair!

At the prestigious national Newspaper and Magazine Awards, held in Mayfair, The BV was honoured with a Highly Commended award this month.

Presented by Niall Paterson of SKY News, the glitzy evening celebrated the best in the industry, with 19 categories recognising outstanding achievements. The BV’s exceptional performance garnered the attention of the panel of 25 industry expert judges, who were thoroughly impressed by the publication’s editorial quality, and the fact it had surpassed the exceptionally high and challenging targets it had set.

While the winning accolade for Regional Publication Of The Year eluded The BV, editor Laura Hitchcock said that the team’s inclusion in the top three regional titles in the country was an honour in itself. The Highly Commended award, one of just a handful bestowed on the night, surpassed all expectations. The panel of industry experts also applauded The BV for its genuine connection with its audience, recognising the publication’s ability to captivate and engage its readers.

“The commendation really validates everything we’re trying to achieve.” said Laura “We’re a tiny team – beyond the writers, it really is just the two of us – and we’ve always had a very targeted focus on simply creating excellent content. Everything else follows naturally from there.”

Expressing their delight at the recognition received, The BV’s husband and wife team admit a sense of pride and accomplishment, acknowledging the national commendation serves as a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to delivering quality content.

“We are thrilled to have been part of such an incredible event and to have received the Highly Commended award on a national stage,” said director Courtenay Hitchcock. “It was a remarkable night, and we are incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. Of course, it would not have been possible without the immense support of our talented team of writers and the unwavering loyalty of our readers.”

As The BV continues to grow and evolve, this recognition serves as a powerful motivator to push boundaries, exceed expectations, and further strengthen its connection with readers. The team remains dedicated to sharing the stories and issues that define Dorset culture, producing quality, positive and engaging content.
