Trethowans supports local charity and a not-for-profit organisation with pro bono property work

Trethowans, a leading law firm in Bournemouth with offices across the south, has once again shown its commitment to the local community by supporting Bournemouth Foodbank and BEAF Arts Co, two Bournemouth-based not for profit organisations.

Trethowans have continued their support and relationship with Bournemouth Foodbank by preparing a licence to allow BEAF Arts Co to occupy space and construct 18 artist studios within the Theatre Hall at St George’s Hall, Haviland Road, Boscombe. As part of this support, Trethowans were able to forge a new relationship with not for profit organisation BEAF Arts Co, and assisted the organisation with the preparation and review of a sub-licence at the property on Haviland Road which will allow them to let out the artist studios to local artists.

Carol Maund, Director at BEAF Arts, said “BEAF are thrilled to be able to open artist studios in Boscombe after receiving a grant from Arts Council England. We hope to create a vibrant and diverse space to support artists and to continue to develop our relationship with Bournemouth Foodbank.”

Bournemouth Foodbank continues to carry out fantastic work by feeding thousands of people every year. They work with many professional agencies to provide people with support, 3-day emergency food, training and upskilling, as well as debt and budgeting advice.

Martin Hancock, CEO at Bournemouth Foodbank commented “We’re are so pleased to partner with BEAF Arts on the Haviland Studios project, a new venture that not only meets community needs but also enriches Boscombe’s cultural landscape. We are extremely thankful to Trethowans for supporting us pro-bono getting a new partnership agreement in place allowing for this project to happen. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have in the community.”

Harry Dancer, the solicitor at Trethowans who acted, said: “I was delighted to be able to assist both Bournemouth Foodbank and BEAF as they continue their outstanding work in supporting the local community. It is great to be a part of a firm which is proactive in their own commitment but also in allowing staff to support the local community.”
