Dorset Museum & Art Gallery, in partnership with Volunteer Centre Dorset, is delighted to announce a Volunteer Open Day on Wednesday 8 October 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The event will take place in the Museum’s stunning Victorian Hall and will bring together nearly 30 charities, organisations, and community groups from across Dorset. The aim is to showcase the wide variety of volunteering opportunities available and inspire local people to get involved, make a difference, and strengthen their community.
Inspiring Opportunities for Everyone
The Volunteer Open Day is designed as a friendly, drop-in event. Visitors will be able to explore roles suited to their interests, skills, and availability—whether they want to commit regularly or prefer something more flexible.
Claire Dixon, Executive Director of Dorset Museum & Art Gallery, said: “Volunteering is at the heart of so many charities and organisations, and it is fantastic to be hosting this event. Many of us find it challenging to recruit new volunteers, and we hope, by coming together for this open day, we can engage local people in the work we do and encourage them to support us, either directly or by spreading the word to friends and family.”
