Ward Goodman Champion National Apprenticeship Week, And Invite Applicants For The September 2018 Intake

Ward Goodman, the Dorset based Chartered Accountants and Independent Financial Advisers, is incredibly proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2018.

The firm made a decision in 2012 to take on apprentices rather than graduate trainees and now has fourteen students studying for AAT, ACA, ACCA and CIPD qualifications.  This includes seven students training with Kaplan for the new ‘Trailblazer Apprenticeship’.

Last November all the apprentices took part in a training day to help them understand the impact of soft skills in the workplace, and the importance of communication and emotional intelligence skills when working with customers and colleagues.  The apprentices fully appreciate the focus that Ward Goodman has on training.

Daniel Cotter, a first year apprentice at the firm commented: “What I have enjoyed most about my time at Ward Goodman so far are the opportunities I have had to visit clients and to work at all three offices – in Ferndown, Wareham and Shaftesbury.  I therefore get to experience what it is like working with a wide variety of clients and in different working environments. This makes you feel as though Ward Goodman wants you to develop personally and professionally by taking on new challenges and supporting you as you undertake a vast variety of accounting work.”

Second year apprentice, Tom Froud added: “The Ward Goodman Apprenticeship Programme has allowed me to gain hands-on experience, which is helping me to achieve my career goals.”

Ward Goodman is currently interviewing for the September 2018 intake.  For more information please contact Jen Richardson, Audit and Charities Director and Head of Talent on jen.richardson@wardgoodman.co.uk
