Shroton-based internet service provider, Wessex Internet, has donated over £8,000 towards improvements to the playpark in its home village.
Wessex internet was founded and remains based in Shroton, having provided wireless broadband services to local residents since 2012. The business has grown rapidly over the last 6 years, now serving over 7,000 customers across the Wessex region, with a workforce of over 250.
Wessex Internet agreed to make this donation following the successful upgrade of its wireless service in the village to full fibre broadband last year. The company has now made a donation of £8,400 to the Parish Council to be used exclusively for improving the playpark facilities for local children and families.
Hector Gibson Fleming, Wessex Internet CEO who has grown up in the parish, had this to say: “We’re very thankful to the residents of Shroton for the support they have shown to Wessex Internet over the last 12 years. We appreciate the village’s patience with the extra traffic our business brings to the area, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to make a sizeable donation that will improve these facilities for families in the Iwerne Valley.”
