Wimborne BID to Celebrate Vibrant Small Business Community

Wimborne BID is supporting a series of activities to help boost the local small business community as part of the national ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign.

In the lead up to Small Business Saturday on the 2nd December, the Wimborne Business Improvement District (BID) will be helping to highlight Wimborne Minster’s fantastic array of small businesses. They will be supporting local events and activities, with the aim of encouraging more people to explore the town’s many independent shops, retailers, and boutiques.

Now in its fifth year, Small Business Saturday is a grassroots non-commercial campaign which celebrates small business success and inspires consumers to ‘shop local’. To mark the campaign, Wimborne businesses will be offering events, gifts, legal clinics, money off schemes and exhibitions from Sunday 12th November. Raising awareness, Wimborne BID is encouraging everyone to tweet or share photos of themselves on Facebook and Instagram, within one of their local businesses using the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK and #WimborneSBS.

Organised by the Wimborne BID, there will also be a dedicated networking event for Wimborne’s small businesses. Featuring prominent local speakers, the networking event will be held at the Priest’s House Museum on Friday 1st December with more details to be released shortly.

On the 2nd December, during Small Business Saturday, a special street market on East Street will showcase local traders and micro-businesses. With funds provided by the Wimborne BID, this will mark the first of two late night shopping events.  Small Business Saturday will also see the return of Handmade Wimborne, an artisan craft market in the Square. These events will officially open the Christmas Shopping season and aim to attract visitors into the heart of the town.

Tammy Sleet, Wimborne BID Manager, said:

“I am delighted to say that a huge number of small Wimborne businesses will be taking part in this year’s Small Business Saturday. We are proud to be supporting these activities and hope they’ll draw lots of people into the town and have a lasting positive impact on the local small businesses community.’’
