Wimborne Businesses urged to have their say to shape the future of the town

Wimborne Business Improvement District (BID) is seeking input from local businesses on its renewal business plan. The consultation is an opportunity for businesses to voice their opinions. These will help shape the future of the BID and how it should support the town over the next five years to boost footfall and market Wimborne as a premier visitor destination.

The Wimborne BID has been instrumental in driving growth and development in the town since its establishment in 2011. It is a business-led initiative to invest money into the local economy of Wimborne. The current term runs until March 31, 2026.

Fiona Harwood, who Chairs the BID Board of Directors, which is made up largely of business owners, urged the town’s 330 levy-paying businesses to get involved. “It’s crucial for businesses to participate in the consultation to ensure their needs and priorities are addressed in the new business plan and we continue to create and sustain a thriving and vibrant local economy.”

She added: “Why participate? This is an opportunity for every business from every sector in our town to have their say and get involved in shaping its future. It’s a chance to help determine the projects and services the BID will focus on over the next five years. Participation in the consultation also allows businesses to be kept updated on the latest developments and opportunities in Wimborne.”

Businesses are encouraged to fill out the consultation document available at https://tinyurl.com/wimbid26. The consultation is open until the end of February.

The BID is keen for businesses to understand what is at stake with no replacement body to fulfil the BID’s extensive remit.
Fiona Harwood explained: “Our role covers funding and other support for major events and attractions, and improvements in the town. The BID also collaborates closely with businesses to provide training, networking opportunities, advice and business support. And that’s only a bit of what we do!”

She added “With no replacement that would drive all these important projects forward, participation in the consultation is vital to the success of Wimborne BID so it can continue to offer the support businesses want and keep Wimborne thriving.”
