Greendale Construction help create an all year round dining experience for historic Wareham Hotel, The Priory

Greendale Construction Limited has helped create an all year round dining experience for Wareham’s historic hotel, The Priory with a £580k build and refurbishment project which saw the Grade 2 listed riverside hotel updated and transformed with a new restaurant, creating 60 covers, as well as a new kitchen, preparation and servery.

The new restaurant boasts a single storey open-plan structure on Purbeck stone plinths with clay roof tiles running at a 90 degree angle to the main building down towards the river Frome. Green oak roof trusses have been used to create a stunning vaulted ceiling with oak clad weatherboard walls and large glazed areas onto covered walkways, making the most of the stunning grounds and riverside views.

Managing partner of The Priory, Jeremy Merchant, said: “Choosing a contractor with a proven ability to build sympathetically, and to take into account the historic and aesthetic considerations that a build such as this requires was paramount to us.  Greendale ticked all those boxes and the result has been hugely beneficial to all our guests and to Wareham and the Purbecks as a whole, with new and repeat visitors to the area.”

Greendale Construction director, Rob Hooker, said: Greendale is extremely proud to have been  main contractors on this terrific project in such a stunning location.  We enjoyed the collaborative relationship we had with the client and design team to create this important addition to this beautiful riverside hotel.”
