Dorset Chamber is an Issuing Body, appointed by HM Government Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. Dorset Chamber are authorised to certify export documentation, including UK Certificate of Origin, Arab-British Certificate of Origin, UK EUR1 Customs Movement Certificates and ATA Carnets.
Documentation can be requested as a result of financial arrangements, customs procedures, trade barriers or even tariff quotas. The team have many years of experience in international trade and certification procedures, and are fully trained and accredited by the British Chambers.

Common Terms
Here is a summary of some of the common terms used when raising export documentation:
Certify, Attest, Chamber Stamp – All refer to the official, registered Chambers of Commerce stamp and authorised signatory.
Legalise – Legalisation takes place at the Embassy or consulate for the country the document is intended for.
Apostille – The documents are apostilled at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This might be done instead of or in addition to getting the documents legalised.
Notarise – The documents are notarised by a registered Notary Public. This is often required to get documents legalised.
Processing Export Documentation
Once you know the country requirements you can start processing your export documentation. Costs and charges vary and depend on the services you require and if you are a Dorset Chamber Member.
In order for us to process applications for export documentation, we require written authorisation in the form of;
Formal Undertaking
By providing a signed copy you acknowledge the requirements detailed in the Standard Rules and allow Dorset Chamber to certify documents on your behalf.
Authorised Signatories
A list of specimen signatories will need to be provided so we can authenticate each application has been completed by an employee authorised by the company to do so.

On receipt of your Formal Undertaking we will open you an online account in our eCert platform and you will receive your login details via email. With Ecert you can easily create and upload documentation for stamped approval by one of our dedicated team. This includes UK Certificates of Origin, Arab-British Certificates of Origin & UK EUR1 Movement Certificates.
In addition to this, the online platform offers exporters the opportunity to obtain many more commonly used documents, in fully compliant formats. This includes export invoices, packing lists, dangerous goods notes, bills of lading and many more. You can also make customs clearance entries for UK customs.

Legalisation Services
As authorised agents for the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce we can arrange for the certification and legalisation of all Arab league documentation.
This documentation can be requested as a result of financial arrangements, customs procedures, trade barriers or even tariff quotas. The team have many years of experience in international trade and certification procedures, and are fully trained and accredited by BCC.
For Arab State documentation (Certify and Certify & Legalise) – Certificate of Origin, Invoices, Health Certificates etc. the costs and requirements vary and some are dependent on the invoice value of the shipment.

EUR1 Movement Certifcate
Dorset Chamber is an Issuing Body, appointed by HM Government Department for Business, Innovation & Skills which means we are authorised to certify export documentation, including EUR1 Certificates.
An UK EUR1 Movement Certificate is used to claim preferential rates of duty in the country of importation. To qualify, the goods must fully meet the rules of origin in the exporting country and be accompanied by a correctly completed and endorsed UK EUR1. The preference system only applies to countries where trade agreements exist with the UK.
When completing an EUR1 form it is advisable, the exporter or authorised agent consult a copy of the HM Revenue and Customs Notices 827, 828, 830, 832 to ensure that the goods originate in accordance with origin rules.

Saudi Visa Application
The Saudi Arabian authorities recently introduced a requirement for ‘Business Introduction Letters’ which must be certified and accompany Business Visa applications submitted to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia. Dorset Chamber is authorised to certify the document for you.
What is the form of wording I need to use in the introductory letter?
A template that incorporates the official wording is available from Dorset Chamber. This needs to be prepared on your company headed paper.
What do I need to do in order to certify my letter?
Before we can certify your introductory letter you must complete and send a Formal Undertaking. If you have already obtained certified export documentation from us in the past we may already hold a Formal Undertaking for your business.
