Christ The King Catholic Primary School Welcomes Harold For Life Education Lessons

A donation of over £2,500 has helped to support mobile classroom towing and maintenance to allow ‘Harold’ the Giraffe and the Life Education Wessex team to continue to help school children aged 3 – 13 years of age learn some very important lessons about life.

“It is very important children make healthy choices at an early age so it becomes a part of their everyday lifestyle,” says Tricia Zimmerman, Educator, Life Education Wessex. “This includes both physical and emotional wellbeing to help them achieve their full potential. The Children here at Christ the King Catholic Primary School have been absolutely great and have listened very attentively to Harold and his messages.”

Each year over 26,000 children in Dorset are taught about the importance of a good diet, exercise and how drugs and other substances can affect the way the body works.  They also learn friendship skills, how to respect themselves and others as well as learning strategies to deal with bullying and peer group pressures. In addition, they are helped to develop ways to manage their feelings and the risks they may encounter so that they can take responsibility for their own lives.

“We are delighted with the continued support of our work by J.P. Morgan, they care very much about their local community and their kind donation will enable us to continue this vital work with local children” said Lorraine Hewitt, Fundraising Manager.

Caroline Donnell, a member of the J.P. Morgan Community Relations Committee, went along to see Harold and the mobile classroom. “The Life Education Wessex team work incredibly hard and we are delighted to have been able to help in this way.”

(J.P. Morgan employs 4,000 technology and operations staff at its Bournemouth Corporate Centre and has a strong history of community engagement).
