Lights! Camera! Action! Yellow Buses’ Duo Star In Campaign

Charlie Seymour and Ryan Pestell star in promotional videos that were launched during National Apprenticeship Week.

Ryan joined the Bournemouth-based operator in 2015 as an HGV technician apprentice and Charlie is a first year mechanical apprentice.

Both describe the advantages of learning on the job and how the guidance of staff has helped develop their knowledge and skills.

The videos were made by the Trust for the National Careers Service and are designed to encourage more students to consider apprenticeships.

In his video, Ryan said about the scheme: “You can earn money, progress your knowledge and learn a trade.

“It’s a great opportunity to take part in a three year programme where you can learn vital skills for life.”

Ryan explained that one-to-one tuition enabled him to develop quickly during his first two years and is now able to carry out work on his own.

Charlie, in his video, said: “The reason I became an apprentice was that I was better at hands-on jobs rather than just sitting in a classroom.”

He added: “What I enjoy most is socialising with other people and different mechanics and learning different ways about how to do the jobs.

“Apprenticeships are a great idea because you earn as your learn.”

Ryan and Charlie are among ten apprentices at Yellow Buses and managing director David Squire is a great believer in the scheme.

He said: “Yellow Buses has a long track record of bringing through apprentices and promoting people from within.

“Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to learn a trade and build a career.

“At Yellow Buses we have apprentices in many different areas and we hope they will go on to enjoy long careers within the industry.”
