This comprehensive course aims to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical experience to carry out first aid in the workplace. Learners will gain vital skills by participating in practical exercises and scenarios. This course is approved by The First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).

This qualification is suitable for staff wanting to become designated first aiders in their workplace.
Why is this training important?
The H&S (First Aid) regulations 1981 place a general duty on employers to provide first aid treatment to employees within the workplace environment. If having assessed first aid needs, an employer decides to appoint first aiders, the first aider must have a valid certificate of competence.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Prevent cross-infection through effective hygiene practices
- Access an incident
- Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
- Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
- Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
- Manage a casualty with external bleeding
- Manage a casualty who is in shock
- Manage a casualty with a minor injury
- Deal with minor burns and scalds
- Manage the first aid supplies at their organisation
- Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including spinal injuries
- Administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries, poisoning, and anaphylactic shock
- Recognise the presence of major illness and provide effective first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
- Place pads and follow instructions of an AED unit
