Coastal BID Welcomes A Fortnight Of Jazz To Bournemouth’s Coast This Summer

Bournemouth Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) is sponsoring the 2018 ‘Jazz By The Sea Festival’, to celebrate music culture whilst promoting the coastal business community.

The biggest Jazz festival on the South Coast is returning to Bournemouth for a fortnight of Jazz Music between Sunday 24th June and Saturday 7th July. Funded by Coastal BID, the 2018 Jazz by the Sea Festival is set to bring thousands of visitors to Bournemouth’s conurbation this summer.

Jazz By The Sea will take place in a variety of venues across the wider area of Bournemouth, as well as Poole. With a great depth of talent in the local area, the festival will promote the region’s Jazz scene, whilst welcoming a mix of national and international musicians, who will perform in various venues across the seaside town.

Coastal pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and shops will open their doors to hold a diversity of Jazz themed events. Among the participating venues are Chaplin’s Cellar Bar, Cottonwood Hotel, Marsham Court Hotel, Miramar Hotel, Cumberland Hotel, Urban Beach, Urban Reef, Key West Bar & Restaurant and Vesuvio. Live music will be played across Boscombe, East and West Cliff, Westbourne and the Seafront, inviting both residents and tourists to swing by and enjoy the finest Jazz in town.

The festival is aimed at promoting the local Jazz landscape, as well as drawing more footfall and boosting trade for businesses across the coast. Jazz By The Sea will provide businesses with the opportunity to promote their offering to new potential customers during its two weeks residence in Bournemouth.

Paul Clarke, Bournemouth Coastal BID Board Chairman, said:

“Bournemouth has a tremendous Jazz scene which should be consistently promoted among both resident and visitors. We hope our funding towards this year’s Jazz By The Sea Festival will encourage more people to attend the events and explore our coastal districts. We highly encourage more businesses to get involved and welcome Jazz enthusiasts.”

Gerry Clarke, Jazz by the Sea Festival Director, said:

“My sincere thanks go to the Bournemouth Coastal BID team who are kindly supporting us again this year. With their help we will deliver the best and biggest Jazz Festival Bournemouth has ever had. A special thank you goes to the businesses who will open their doors to our talented musicians during the upcoming fortnight of Jazz.”
