Disused Computer Equipment Helps Homeless Charity

A donation of 22 items of computer equipment including old laptops and PC monitors to the Society of St James, will generate over a £1000 for the Southampton based charity that provides housing, care and support to homeless and vulnerable people including those with mental health issues, learning disabilities and the long-term unemployed.

Richard Austin, Director at Ringwood based IT Software Solutions company, KFA Connect Ltd, said that the selection of ageing computer equipment used by their 28 designers, system developers and software testers, was just a year’s worth placed into storage.   The equipment collection was arranged with Southampton based Jamie’s Computers which offers an IT equipment disposal service. The service recycles anything that cannot be reused or will professionally refurbish following a free collection and data destruction. 100% of the profits are given to the Society of St James.

Paul Motherwell from Jamie’s Computers who collected the redundant IT equipment thanked the KFA Connect team and explained that the company generates much of its revenue for the society through sales on eBay and other initiatives.

“We are delighted to have found the service offered by Jamie’s Computers  as we know it can help make a difference to an unfortunate section of society that requires additional support” said Richard Austin.
