The Marsham Court Hotel first to sponsor “Mr Incredible”

The Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth is the first local business to get behind Paul, whom they have hailed as “simply incredible”.

Businesses are being sought to sponsor hit and run victim Paul O’Boyle, who is running 27 consecutive marathons during October for a Christchurch Hospice charity.

Between October 1st-25th Paul, from Boscombe, will run a full marathon every single day. And on weekdays he will follow up his marathon with an eight-hour shift as a caretaker at The Bishop of Winchester School.

On Monday 26th – the last day of his challenge – Paul will run his 26th marathon before continuing on to the Macmillan Unit in Christchurch for a grand finish hosted by the Macmillan Caring Locally charity. Completing the equivalent of 27 marathons in 26 days.

MD Rosie Radwell said: “We were absolutely blown away to hear what Paul is attempting for Macmillan Caring Locally (MCL), particularly in light of the terrible injuries he suffered just a few years ago.”

In 2016, the father-of-one was knocked from his bike in Wallisdown Road and left with skull and collarbone fractures, requiring many months of physio and speech therapy.

Rosie continued: “The Marsham Court is a long-term supporter of MCL and like Paul we are committed to its campaign to build a fantastic new hospice in Christchurch.
“We were more than happy to sponsor Paul for the honour of having our logo on his running vest and we hope more businesses will now come forward and sponsor him too. What he is doing is nothing short of incredible.”

Paul has run the New York Marathon once and the London Marathon three times

All money raised during his 27 marathons will go to Macmillan Caring Locally’s Brick by Brick appeal which aims to replace the current hospice in the grounds of Christchurch Hospital with a more modern and well-equipped end of life facility.

Paul said: “I’m very grateful to the Marsham Court Hotel. I know Rosie and her team have been a huge support to MCL in recent years.
“Now I’d like to hear from other businesses who can help me raise a really good amount of money for the Brick by Brick appeal.
“I have plenty more miles in the tank and plenty more space on my vest!”

Businesses interested in sponsoring Paul are asked to contact Barry Wilson at: barry@macmillanlocal.org
