Organise your International Trade needs with Dorset Gateway

With just a few weeks left until the UK transitions out of the EU, Dorset LEP’s business growth hub, Dorset Gateway, is preparing businesses by offering a fully-funded Export Declarations service for up to 200 businesses in the region. The service is open to all types of exporting businesses with some funding set aside for up to 40 of Dorset’s businesses entering new international markets in order to grow their business.

Dorset Gateway, delivered in partnership with Dorset Chamber, is also providing access to specialist one-to-one advisor support to help businesses understand the changes and potential impact on their operations.

Finn Morgan, Business Engagement and Dorset Gateway Manager said: “It has been an extremely challenging 12 months for businesses with uncertainly around the EU negotiations and the impacts of COVID-19. Our increased support, coupled with Dorset Chamber’s extensive experience of helping businesses with international trade enquiries, will provide some much-needed stimulus for ambitious, growth-minded businesses in Dorset.

In addition, an ‘exporting essentials’ checklist is available on their website, taking new and experienced exporting businesses through the steps needed to ensure they can continue to trade from 1 January 2021.

Ian Girling, Chief Executive of Dorset Chamber concludes: “Dorset Chamber has significant experience in export documentation, helping Dorset’s businesses export over £250 million in goods each year. We are qualified to deliver a documentation service on behalf of HMRC. This enhanced support from Dorset Gateway will help new businesses begin exporting and provide new export opportunities for Dorset.
