C3IA awards SecQuest “Cyber Essentials” accreditation

SecQuest have been awarded a “Cyber Essentials” accreditation by fellow Dorset Chamber member company C3IA Solutions LTD, based in Poole. Cyber Essentials is a United Kingdom government information assurance scheme that is operated by the National Cyber Security Centre.

It encourages organisations to adopt good practice in information security. Cyber Essentials is a simple but effective, Government backed scheme that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.

Cyber attacks come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very basic in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled individuals. They’re the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door to see if it’s unlocked. Our advice is designed to prevent these attacks.

Paul Marsh, a SecQuest Director, said:  “C3IA were fast, thorough and efficient when processing our data for the Cyber Essentials accreditation, and provided excellent feedback and timely communications during all phases of the assessment”.

So why did SecQuest decide to gain certification? The following five points cemented the mind-set of the leadership team:

SecQuest could reassure their clients that they are consistently working to secure their IT against cyber attacks in a timely manner.
SecQuest could attract new business with the promise that they have robust cyber security measures in place.
SecQuest gained a clear holistic picture of their organisation’s cyber security level.
The Public Sector is important to SecQuest and some Government clients require Cyber Essentials certification.
SecQuest is evolving their services to align with the requirements of the National Cyber Security Centre.

SecQuest are now working towards the “Cyber Essentials Plus” & NCSC CHECK accreditation.

CHECK is the term for the NCSC approved penetration test companies and the methodology used to conduct a penetration test. Companies providing CHECK services do so using staff who hold NCSC approved qualifications and have suitable experience. Penetration tests are conducted using NCSC recognised methods and the subsequent report and recommendations are produced to a recognised standard.
