Becoming Cyber Essentials Certified

Whether you are an SME or a large enterprise there are many reasons why Cyber Security is a must for your business.

Cyber crime rates are soaring and it’s only going to escalate in the new decade. On average there were over 4,000 attacks every day on UK businesses last year.

Whilst there really is no silver bullet, by getting Cyber Essentials certified you will be protecting against 80% of the most common threats!

The most common threats include Malware and hacking attempts. Gone are the days when the only hackers were clever individuals who target specific high-profile organisations. Now most hacks come from sophisticated autonomous systems that do not discriminate and target thousands of companies randomly, hoping to break in to steal data or bring down systems.

GDPR is one of the key factors that is of course driving this and any breach can have serious financial implications.

Government contracts now insist that suppliers are Cyber Essentials Certified as it ensures them that your organisation takes cyber-attacks and protection of data seriously.

Enhanced security consultants can help your business to attain either Cyber Essentials or Essentials Plus. By getting certified you not only protect your own business, but you may also gain a competitive advantage over other companies in your market.

Cyber Essentials is the minimum level. It shows that you have mitigated the risks from common threats and is needed to bid for government work and MOD contracts.

Cyber Essentials Plus is more in-depth and involves vulnerability scanning and onsite assessments to ensure that basic hacking and phishing attacks are protected against.
