Peer Network Programme

Be a part of a trusted support network

Businesses that seek external advice or undertake formal training are more likely to improve their overall performance, but many prefer to take advice from trusted sources when presented with external challenges and opportunities.

Delivered by Dorset Gateway in partnership with Dorset Chamber, we are creating 2 extra diverse groups of individuals to collaboratively work through common business issues. Through interactive action learning, we will enable you to discuss your own challenges with like-minded business people, gain and reflect on valuable feedback and implement practical solutions to overcome them. Our expert facilitators and speakers will create a trusted support network that will help you build and strengthen your business and improve its overall performance through your peer group.

All participants will be asked to agree to a code of ethics to ensure that meetings take place in a confidential, positive and safe environment that is based on trust and mutual support.

Peer Group membership often costs in excess of £300 per meeting – meaning a programme of this kind would usually be at least £1,800 – this programme is fully funded and therefore free to participants.

Programme benefits

Peer Networks will help you build trusted connections that go beyond networking. Your facilitated peer group will enable you to consider your own challenges from different perspectives and discuss different ways of approaching issues and potential solutions with your peers.

Programme delivery

Peer Networks is delivered through a series of high impact group sessions, with each cohort of 10 or 11 people led by a trained facilitator. Upon completion of the programme, you will be able to use the action learning skills and techniques that you have learned to independently continue the group support.
This programme is free of charge and, at this time, will be delivered online. With 22 places available, we expect a high demand for this programme so early booking is advised.

Each peer network meeting will include a workshop on a key business issue, the opportunity to discuss this with your peers and include specific time for a group discussions on a key issue facing participant’s businesses.

Peer networks will meet every 2 to 3 weeks for 3 hours for 6 sessions, totalling 18 hours of action learning. Through the duration of the programme, participants will also develop an action plan for their businesses.

Participants will also have access to one to one support in addition to the Peer Network meetings and again this will be fully funded and therefore free to participants.

There will also be additional workshops available for all participants including Business Support. All participants will also be invited to attend an end of programme celebration event on the 30th March 2021, where our guest speaker and special guest will be Lord Mark Price, Chairman of Fair Trade UK, writer and member of House of Lords, former Managing Director of Waitrose and Deputy Chair of the John Lewis Partnership.

Who is the programme for?

The Peer Network programme is for directors and senior managers from businesses of all sizes and turnover and we will aim to group similar size businesses together. You must have:

  • At least 2 employees
  • A minimum turnover of £100,000
  • An aspiration to improve business output
  • Operated for at least one year
  • Must be a business registered within BCP or Dorset council areas

We also welcome businesses that meet these criteria with the potential to scale up or export.

Group 1
will run at 8.30am – 11.30am on the 15th January, 29th January, 12th February, 26th February, 5th March and 19th March. (limited spaces)

Group 2
will run at 8.30am – 11.30am on the 22nd January, 5th February, 19th February, 25th February, 4th March and 18th March.
