Greendale complete XLR Terminal

Greendale Construction completes XLR Executive Jet Terminal at Bournemouth Airport

Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited’s Small Works Division, has successfully completed a substantial refurbishment at Bournemouth Airport for Regional City Airports; a subsidiary of The Rigby Group PLC, which has transformed the former Bournemouth Flying Club bar and café into an XLR Executive Jet Terminal.

Previously vacant for the past three years, the ex-flying clubhouse dates back from WW2 and is situated within the airport boundary.  During the 15 week refurbishment, Greendale carried out a complete internal refurbishment and redecoration, minor mechanical and electrical works and external repairs/works.

External works included brickwork repairs, new lintels and rendering, as well as new front entrance doors, portal and cladding. Internal works included a full strip out, full new electrical and mechanical installation and air conditioning.  The Greendale team also installed new walls, ceiling, doors, shower room and bathrooms, as well as a new kitchen, refreshment station and bespoke reception desk.

A full groundworks package was delivered to form a more visually pleasing landscaped area along with new car park and external lighting. The XLR Lounge will now process all private jet customers and provide pilots and aircrew with refreshment and conference room facilities.

Neil Drissel, Small Works Contracts Manager, Greendale Construction, commented: “This has been a challenging but very rewarding project for the small works team and all those involved.  What was once a neglected and outdated building has been transformed into a stylish and modern facility.”
