Hundreds enjoy a Royal Tea Party in Westbourne

The Westbourne Tea Party organised by Bournemouth Coastal BID and Westbourne Business Association drew hundreds of people to WestbourneArcade for a day of royal fun.

Hundreds of Westbourne residents and visitors from the wider conurbation of Bournemouth attended the Coastal Businesses Improvement District (BID) and the Westbourne Business Association’s Summer Tea Party. The event, which took place in Westbourne Arcade, brought the community together for a day of family fun with scones, cream-teas and entertainment.

Attendees were spoilt by The Terrace Café Westbourne which provided freshly baked scones, sandwiches, hot brews and other afternoon-tea delicacies. Miss Annie Vintage Vocalist got people up and dancing to her 1920s-themed medley of songs whilst The Barbershop Quartet also impressed attendees with their style of acappella close harmony. Balloon Modellers and Stilt Walkers also roamed the arcade to entertain the little ones.

The free two-hour event was attended by people of all ages and helped raise footfall and promote local businesses. Visitors were encouraged to shop local and explore Westbourne businesses in return for complimentary goodie bags.

Lia Martin, Director at Westbourne Business Association and A-One Insurance Group Corporate Partnership Manager, said:

“What a fantastic day for both Westbourne businesses and residents! The Westbourne Tea Party has been a success and a great way to celebrate the official beginning of summer, in the arcade. Thank you to all the participating businesses who helped us make this free event possible.”

Paul Clarke, Cluster General Manager of Hallmark Hotels and Bournemouth Coastal BID Board Chairman, said:

“We have a close working relationship with the Westbourne Business Association and were delighted to deliver this exceptional family-friendly event in conjunction with them. It has been a fantastic day where all the community came together to support Westbourne businesses.”
