Julia’s House set to host VIP reception at Bournemouth Air Festival, thanks to Wimborne-based manufacturer, Superior

Posted on: 24/08/2021

Julia’s House children’s hospice is set to host a VIP reception at this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival for its loyal supporters, thanks to Dorset family-run manufacturer, Superior.

Superior has supported Julia’s House children’s hospices since 2008 and its latest commitment sees the company donate a significant sum to enable Julia’s House to host an evening reception at the festival on Thursday September 2.  This will be the charity’s first event since restrictions eased earlier in the summer.

More than 200 Julia’s House supporters will be entertained in the Julia’s House marquee and, with this located between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers, invitees will have the ultimate vantage point from which to see all the excitement of the Air Festival’s dusk displays.

Superior, a family-owned manufacturer of high integrity o-rings and seals, with its own company-run apprenticeship training academy and engineering workshop, has had a longstanding partnership with the charity and has raised more than £200,000 since the affiliation began. Superior’s Managing Director, Tim Brown MBE, accepted an invitation to become an ambassador for Julia’s House in June 2020 due to the dedicated commitment the company has provided to the charity.

Martin Edwards, Chief Executive of Julia’s House, says: “We wish to thank Tim and the team at Superior for their continued support and giving us the opportunity to thank all of our loyal supporters personally, something we’ve not been able to do on a large scale for more than a year!  Our evening reception at this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival will provide us with the chance to thank those who have continued to fundraise and donate to our cause throughout the pandemic.

“We are extremely grateful to the team at Superior in helping to make a positive difference to the families we support.”

Tim Brown MBE, Managing Director of Superior, adds: “We are inspired by the incredible work Julia’s House do to support families of children with life-limiting conditions and we’re pleased to help fund the respite needed for families facing tough challenges every day.
“Every £50 raised helps Julia’s House provide a session of specialist sensory activity for a child who finds communication challenging, and every £100 can provide expert and compassionate support via video from a nurse for a lonely and isolated family.”

The Superior team has taken on a range of fundraising challenges over the years in aid of Julia’s House including charity bike rides, Tough Mudder challenge, a Dorset Plane Pull, hikes, two-hour High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) which was complete by Tim, and Katie Bodman, Head of Academy at Superior, trekked the Great Wall of China.
