Morebus is holding a recruitment event on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 August for former Yellow Buses employees – as the bus operator prepares to step in and run additional routes this weekend.
From Friday, Yellow Buses will no longer be running services across the region, and Morebus has stepped in to fulfil routes vacated by the stricken bus operator.
“Yellow Buses situation is regrettable, and we understand the impact this will have on those who have relied upon its services here in Dorset. We are stepping in to run routes, to help keep the region moving,” said Morebus managing director, Andrew Wickham.
“We also appreciate the situation former Yellow Buses employees have found themselves in, and we are delighted to be able to offer them the opportunity to join Morebus.
“That is why we’re hosting a dedicated recruitment event tomorrow and Saturday in Bournemouth – and we’re inviting former Yellow Buses drivers to come and speak to our team with a view to fulfilling one of our vacancies.
“For those who would like join us, we can offer the chance of immediate employment and genuine job security. Morebus is a friendly and welcoming place to work, with excellent rates of pay – including an increase from 7 August to £13 an hour.
“To help soften the blow of the current situation, we are offering any drivers who visit us at the event on Friday and pledge to start their new role with us immediately, a £3,000 joining bonus. We are very much looking forward to welcoming a raft of new colleagues to the Morebus family, and to an exciting future for bus travel in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.”
At the weekend’s event, Morebus is keen to welcome experienced bus drivers with excellent knowledge of Bournemouth’s bus routes. They should hold a valid UK category D driving licence, along with a driver qualification card (CPC). Excellent customer service is also high on the list of requirements, so Morebus is looking for those who enjoy doing their best for passengers.
The event will take place at The Village Hotel – Bournemouth, Deansleigh Road, BH7 7DZ on Friday 5 August 9am-6pm, and Saturday 6 August between 9am and 4pm.
Drivers can just turn up, and should bring with them their driving licence, driver qualification card (CPC), Right to Work documents, and bank details.
The £3,000 joining bonus is only available to those who start immediately on Friday 5 August 2022. A £2,000 joining bonus will continue to be available to all PCV licence holders who join Morebus by Sunday 7 August 2022.
