Talk Think Do appoints Head of Engineering to bolster team

Ian Rathbone joins Talk Think Do with over 20 years of experience in the software industry

Dorset tech firm, Talk Think Do, has appointed Ian Rathbone as the team’s new Head of Engineering. Ian has over 20 years of experience in the software industry, making him the perfect candidate to manage Talk Think Do’s engineering team.

Ian joins Talk Think Do from 4Com, where he previously worked for five years as Software Development Manager. Prior to this, Ian’s experience in software has developed through his time as Head of Development & IT at a company previously owned by the Richmond Group; in addition to dealing with software development and cloud-based services for companies based in Australia and France.

Ian said: “I’ve been admiring Talk Think Do from afar for some time and found the homely culture and client-facing role an attractive offer, so I jumped at the opportunity to join the company. The application process was overwhelmingly wonderful, and the welcome to the team has been equally great.

“I’m excited to dive deeper into the fast-evolving world of AI to enhance my knowledge and gain further accreditations, while also encouraging the team to do so.”

Ian is a perfect fit to enhance the Talk Think Do team and make positive contributions to ongoing projects as a Microsoft Solutions Partner, thanks to his experience using Microsoft stack, including both .NET and Azure.

Louise Clayton, Managing Director of Talk Think Do, said: “We’re very excited to welcome Ian into the Talk Think Do team. He’s going to be an excellent colleague thanks to his enthusiasm and fresh approach to team management, which aligns perfectly with our company’s values and culture.

“It’s great that we have been able to attract someone with Ian’s experience and credentials, and that comes down to the successful performance and culture the business has established.”

As part of his new role at Talk Think Do, Ian will work closely with the rest of the team to onboard new processes and drive them in a new direction. A big part of Ian’s management philosophy is encouraging self-ownership from his team, whereby employees are trusted to manage their own workload and priorities.

Ian added: “I think it’s important to find the right balance for your team in any management role, particularly when you are new to the company as I am. It’s going to be an enjoyable process, and I’m looking forward to getting to know the team face to face so that I can establish the best way to increase efficiencies.

“I’m a big believer in self-ownership, especially when you have a team as strong as ours at Talk Think Do; so it’s about how I can allow my wonderful new colleagues to work in the best way possible.”
