An ‘Outstanding’ result for Tops Newport on the Isle of Wight has been awarded by Ofsted after a recent inspection.
The report marked all 4 areas of the inspection as Outstanding, including leadership and management, teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.
The report noted that “Children truly take centre place. Through the ‘pre-school committee’, staff actively seek the views of older children. Children discuss what they enjoy and any suggestions for improvement. Their discussions directly influence activity planning, and staff’s action plans for enhancement incorporate their views.”
The relationship that staff build with parents and the community is a factor they are extremely proud of, which is also reflected in the report.
“Highly effective arrangements are in place to ensure parents play a full and active role in their child’s early learning. Staff and parents share information about the progress children make in the nursery and at home extremely well. Staff also work extremely well with schools and other professionals. They share a wide range of information that helps all those working with the children to follow a shared approach and provide continuity in their care and learning. All children, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those who speak English as an additional language, make exceptional progress from their starting points.”
Hannah Jennings, Nursery Manager commented “We are absolutely delighted to have received an Outstanding grading in OFSTED. We all work extremely hard and I couldn’t be more proud of my staff and children. We would like to say thank you to all our parents for their on-going support.’’
The recent inspection brings Tops Day Nurseries to have 6 Outstanding nurseries within the family.
