Fertility lawyer Suzi Denton has joined Ellis Jones Solicitors to head up a new fertility and surrogacy service.
The regional law firm will be offering specialist advice to families and individuals who are creating families through surrogacy, donor conception and IVF.
The new service comes a year after Ellis Jones became the first in the region to offer a range of same-sex legal services for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.
Suzi, a qualified family mediator, trained with a commercial law firm before deciding to pursue a career in family law, initially at Ellis Jones.
She left three years ago to become a fertility lawyer with a specialist fertility law firm before rejoining Ellis Jones to launch the new service.
Suzi said: “The law and legal framework relating to fertility, surrogacy, donor conception and co-parenting can be complex and frustrating. With so much information online, it’s sometimes difficult to know what to believe.
“Our aim will be to provide clear and practical advice bespoke to a particular situation. It’s an expanding area of law, which is often in the news, and I’m very pleased to be joining Ellis Jones to launch this new service.”
Suzi will be supported by colleagues including Katie Taft, Partner, and paralegal Victoria Batstone.
Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “As a progressive, forward-looking firm, we believe our services should mirror changes in society as well as the law.
“Our new fertility service covering surrogacy, donor conception and co-parenting and fertility treatment, will fill a much-needed gap in our services.”
