Staff raising money for Cherries Community Fund with coastal walk
Posted on: 08/07/2021

Staff members of AFC Bournemouth are raising money for the Cherries Community Fund this weekend (Sunday 11th July 2021), partaking in a 20-mile walk.
Starting at Anvil Point Lighthouse on the Isle of Purbeck, the group will follow the coastal path to the chain ferry at Shell Bay, before crossing to Sandbanks. Staff will then walk down along the beach path to Boscombe and up towards the finishing point at Vitality Stadium
In non-Covid times, the Cherries Community Fund is the recipient of all of profits from the matchday lottery draws. The fund then gives out financial grants of up to £1,000 to local projects which help young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the Dorset area.
As the Covid-19 pandemic has hit, it means that the matchday draws haven’t been able to run for the past year and the fund has not been receiving any cash.
Therefore, we’re hoping a charity walk will help raise a little of the money that would normally be accumulated across the course of the season.
If you’d like to support the walk and sponsor our staff, please use the JustGiving link here.
Alternatively, if you see the group along the seafront sporting matching t-shirts on Sunday, feel free to come and say hello!
