Surveillance And Telecoms Technology Set To Impress At Dorset Business Angels Pitch Event In Bournemouth

Dorset Business Angels (DBA) have announced the date for their next investors’ pitch event which will take place on Monday 11th June at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth and is urging potential investors to book a place at the popular event.

DBA Chairman Don McQueen advises, “Once again we are delighted to welcome along a diverse number of companies to pitch. They will be presenting some ground breaking-breaking ideas and technology.” Pitches include:
·       A surveillance technology company that has created a drone that can operate up to 120m and provide secure HD Video feeds and high-bandwidth data streaming for over 24 hours. They will be hoping to impress the Angels with their advanced drone technology.

·       A telecoms company which is returning to the Dorset Business Angels ‘investment den’ for the 3rd time. This Company has developed and refined patented technology over the past 5 years and delivers up to 1GB broadband speeds down copper wires at a fraction of the cost of fibre. Previous investment has been secured from DBA members. This is likely to be the final round of investment before significant orders are received from major global suppliers of broadband services.

·       A company that has disrupted the Childcare market with a new product that has been listed by many major retailers, including Mothercare, John Lewis, JoJo Maman Bebe and over 50 smaller independents. The 3rd round funding pitch is enable the business to meet the demand from Asia which has just signed up their largest distributor and is preparing to launch in this continent.

·       An entertainment company that has established a new model for developing and marketing artists and their music. They have attracted some of the leading figures in the industry and secured second stage funding of £1M in April to scale up the business. Due to the rapid take-up of the April offer, their Board has agreed to accept a further £400K at the same valuation as the April round.
Don continued, “We welcome potential investors to come along, network and maybe discover an exciting, new investor proposition! Even if someone has not invested before you would be made very welcome. There is also absolutely no pressure on pitch event guests to invest.
“We will also look forward to welcoming Victoria Boynes-Butler from our sponsors, Laceys Solicitors, who will be presenting and sharing ideas on what to consider before making an investment.”
DBA was formed in 2013 with the aim to bring investors and entrepreneurs together to accelerate the growth of early stage businesses. DBA provides quality, private equity investment opportunities to local high net worth (HNW) and sophisticated investors (SI).
Four times a year companies are invited to attend an event at which they pitch their business to the savvy Angels in a Dragon’s Den type scenario. Angel investment might come from a single investor or it could be 2 or 3 Angels pooling funds together to support a company. Any investments are in the form of an equity investment and not a debtor’s loan. Investments are made across all sectors.
DBA is sponsored and supported by Laceys Solicitors, Saffery Champness Chartered Accountants, Investec, Bright Blue Day Design Agency and Bournemouth Council.
