Walking 900 times around the Wimborne Minster in support of the Minster Makes Music appeal

In support of the Minster Makes Music appeal, to rebuild our wonderful organ, and create a music foundation – please give generously as Chris Slocock attempts to walk 900 times around the Minster (estimated as over 4 marathons in distance).

The Covid-19 Pandemic has affected everyone – The Minster is a victim just like everyone else, a place of Worship, a Community Centre and a Tourist Attraction – locked down and desperately in need of financial support.

Wimborne Minster dates from an 8th Century Saxon monastic foundation, which by the 11th Century had developed into a Norman minster church. It became the home of a musical tradition that predates that of many English cathedrals and ranks high on the scale of national historical importance.

The Minster organ needs a major overhaul and repairs to enable it to continue to support and enhance the Anglican choral and musical traditions of the Minster

Let’s be proud and celebrate our wonderful Minster and what it means to all of us! Come, walk, talk and celebrate with Chris, for a few laps – look out for information on social media

A Music Foundation has been established to support redevelopment of music in the Minster and to communicate its musical heritage to the congregation, the community, and to develop links with local schools.

If you would like to be involved or have any questions or suggestions, do please contact Andrew Curtis, Chair of the Minster Makes Music Appeal Committee, through the Parish Office.
