Would you like to play a key role in helping The Bournemouth & Poole College on its journey to Outstanding?

The Bournemouth & Poole College is the largest provider of Further Education (FE) and Apprenticeships in the area. We believe in transformation through skills and knowledge. Our core focus is on developing the work skills of our students, so that when they leave us, they are ready to start or to progress within their chosen career.

Through inspiring teaching and learning, we develop our students’ work skills, life skills and knowledge, and so help to build a thriving local economy and community.

Why do we need Board Members?
The Board Member role is concerned with driving issues at strategic level. You will bring an outside perspective on the running of the College, to ask the what, why, how and when of our Executive Team.

Board Member Vacancies

At Bournemouth & Poole College we are seeking a number of new Board Members over the next 12 months, as current members’ terms of office finish. We have a highly effective Executive Team and Board and are looking for new Board Members to join our team. We are seeking innovative and dynamic individuals who will share in the College’s vision and help us deliver our ambitions with skills, with experience and expertise in any of the following areas:
– Education sector
– Strategic Financial Management
– Risk/Audit
– Background in/knowledge of SMEs

We promote equality of opportunity and inclusion within the workplace and welcome applications from all sections of the community, especially those currently underrepresented within the organisation.

The Board Member role is voluntary, although travel expenses will be reimbursed. The Board holds around eight scheduled meetings a year, these meetings are generally held at our North Road campus on a Tuesday morning and a Thursday evening. In addition to Board Meetings, members are expected to attend an annual Board Planning Day, support Board Committees and undertake regular learning walks.

What’s in it for you?
Board Members are wholeheartedly committed to the College vision and values, and set a clear strategic direction. Board Members give a great deal to, and gain a great deal from, their work for the College. We will be drawing on your talents and experience to the benefit of the College but there are many things that you will gain from becoming a Board Member. Not only will you feel a sense of making a difference to the lives of young people and the community, but your responsibilities will require you to absorb a wide range of issues, some outside of your current experiences, which can enhance your own career development.
