5 entrepreneurs ready to pitch at our next online event

Dorset Business Angels (DBA) will hold their 6th online pitch event on Monday 31st January. The decision was promptly taken to switch to an online event due to the risks and uncertainty of holding face to face events caused by the omicron covid variant.

Through their investment pitch events, DBA helps presenters raise equity capital from their investment members. Pitch events bring Investors and Entrepreneurs together to accelerate the growth of early-stage businesses.
Five pitches are confirmed to pitch at the online event.

  • A Bournemouth based company will present their green energy switching website. The UK’s national energy system is going to go through huge changes as we attempt to reach ‘net zero’ by 2050 and the management of energy data will be the key to achieving a smooth transition. This company’s mission is to make low-cost, low-carbon comfort a reality for every home and their platform will be used by some of the world’s biggest companies, to sell energy products and services to their customers and to manage how those products interact with the energy grid. They are currently partnering with Sky, Tesco, Unilever and IKEA.
  • A company based in Devon is set to disrupt the current approach to asbestos monitoring with industrial safety equipment that provides real-time warning for the detection of airborne asbestos particles. The directors are seeking to raise funds to complete trials and prepare for a product launch.
  • Investors will also be introduced to a company that has designed and built a product for sailors capturing their voyage adventures and experiences. Utilising a phone’s GPS, key stats are generated automatically, crew members can add their own photos and notes and voyages and profiles can be easily shared to social media or via a public link. The founders are seeking investment to take the product, which has been through a beta trial, mainstream.
  • Two further pitches will be presented including a unique 360° personal lighting system for cyclists, runners and active people who want to be seen in low light conditions and a company that has developed an international business platform for 3D printing.

DBA Chairman Don McQueen commented, “The safety of our attendees is paramount and so we return once more to an online event in January, which will no doubt prove as popular as ever. Online events offer our entire investor community the opportunity to attend a live event and for those that can’t make it, we’ll post videos of the pitches and Q&A sessions to our website pitch portal afterwards.”

“We will also welcome Chris Shephard and Adrian Hale from BCP Council, who will present their ‘Smart Place Investor Showcase’ to investors.”

DBA was formed in 2013 and provides quality, private equity investment opportunities to local high net worth (HNW) and sophisticated investors (SI). Any investments are in the form of an equity investment and not a debtor’s loan. Investments are made across all sectors. Angel investment might come from a single investor, or it could be 2 or 3 Angels pooling funds together to support a company as a syndicate.

DBA is sponsored by Saffery Champness Accountants, Ellis Jones Solicitors and Investec Wealth and Investment. To book a ticket for the online pitch event please visit www.dorsetbusinessangels.co.uk/events
