South West Charitable housing association BCHA is inviting more smart technology providers to join Daizy Tech Ltd in improving the quality of its residents’ lives.
BCHA, which has its head office in Bournemouth, launched a pilot scheme with local technology business Daizy in March 2020, to install IoT sensors to monitor building systems and environmental conditions technology in its 1,700 properties across the south west.
IoT (Internet of Things) is a new technology that can help social housing organisations maintain their assets more effectively and efficiently by gathering relevant data from discreet sensors installed within properties and turning that data into actionable information.
Following the success of the pilot scheme, BCHA is currently installing Legionella IoT sensor devices in a number of BCHA properties to test water temperature and cancel the need for regular contractor checks.
Information is fed into a single management platform provided by Daizy and the data is then made available to BCHA through a single Application Programming Interface (API), a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other. The data is then processed into a simple actionable task for BCHA’s asset management team to carry out.
Martin Hancock, BCHA’s Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to have embarked on this journey into smart technology in partnership with Daizy.
“There are many benefits to using smart tech in our homes, from compliance accuracy to improving customer health, reducing our carbon footprint and safeguarding our more vulnerable customers. We are now keen to explore what the IoT market has to offer that ticks all of our boxes, keeping the customer at the heart of what we do.”
He continued: “We are committed to making our homes smart, so much so that we have this written into our five-year business plan as a leading goal.
“We have identified a range of issues which we believe have an IoT solution, including the early prevention of damp, digital locks, fire alarm testing and leak prevention. BCHA would now like to invite other smart technology providers to pitch IoT solutions for our diverse range of properties located throughout the south west.”
BCHA is actively seeking IoT device manufacturers/potential suppliers who and now able to work with the existing infrastructure in providing IoT solutions.
