The digital frontier, cybercrime and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) – Some of the topics being highlighted to dozens of business leaders at the latest business breakfast clubs being held by the South Coast office of Smith & Williamson, the accountancy, investment management and tax group.

Andrew Edmonds, the managing partner of the South Coast office of Smith & Williamson, said: “Our first business breakfast of the year, which is always very popular with over 100 business professionals attending, will shine a light on crucial business decisions that need to be made in 2018.”

Colin Elwell, partner, and Rebecca Rogers, investment manager, will review last year’s global markets, look at the prospects for 2018 and discuss the merits and pitfalls of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

Andrew Edmonds will be presenting the results of the recent Nexia International cybercrime survey providing an overview  of global trends in what is rapidly becoming the number one issue for many clients. Andrew will provide examples of cyber-attacks that hit companies in 2017 and the impact they had.

Guest speaker, Mark O’Halloran, partner at law firm Coffin Mew , will be sharing his experience of working with clients to carry out data audits and identify non-compliances. Mark will explain the common issues identified and suggest some robust approaches to address them.
