Changing of the Guard at Composite Profiles UK

100 miles from London, we celebrate our own Changing of the Guard, as Mark Norton hands over the ceremonial keys to Joel Nurser, as he steps into the role of Managing Director and takes over the everyday running of Composite Profiles UK.

It’s certainly a significant milestone in Composite Profiles 30-year history and its journey from a one-room office in Broadstone headed up by Roy Norton, through a 14 year boom under the management of Mark Norton; and to November 2022, when Joel Nurser adeptly took up his position as the New Guard taking over the MD-ship of Composite Profiles.

It's no surprise that this transition has been in progress for some time. Over the past 17 years, Joel Nurser has worked his way up from Assistant Project Manager to being second-in-command as Operations Director, but more significantly becoming the first and only non-family shareholder in 2019. Joel has helped grow Composite Profiles into a £multi-million business, completing 1740 projects in the process. We asked Mark Norton, why now?

“My vision is well documented in our marketing materials, it’s simply ‘to create the highest performing team possible with Building Excellence at our core’ and by appointing Joel, I am literally actioning that vision. I’m really excited by this progressive new direction. Joel will make an excellent MD.  His passion for the sector is unrivalled.  Together with his attention to detail and knowledge, the future looks very strong.”

And what has the new Managing Director, Joel Nurser, got to say?

“I’m very proud and grateful to follow in the footsteps of Roy and Mark, both who have taught me so much. As we look forward to 2023, I feel energised and optimistic about what the future holds for our team, and I am confident that we will use the challenges ahead to improve and build a better future for all. I would like to extend my appreciation and respect to our whole team for their support and trust over the years. Thanks to Mark for preparing me and I look forward to supporting you and the team in our new roles.”

Certainly, a sincere and fitting tribute to the Old Guard who have achieved so much building Composite Profiles into the nationwide business it is today. But the question remains, what is Mark Norton going to do now?

Mark’s parting affirmation is Joel and I both share the same vision and commitment to Building Excellence to delight our clients”. Ironically, you might see more of Mark now; he plans to journey around the country ‘delighting clients’ in his self-designed, tongue-in-cheek new role as head of boss-to-boss lunches. And that’s not a complete joke! Handing over the MD-ship to Joel frees up Mark to focus on client relations and to forge the long-term strategic direction of the company. The only problem is, we’re not sure what Mark’s new job title should be? We’re temporary working with ‘Vision Director’ but one doesn’t necessarily want the related acronym associated with one’s name in Google search rankings! We’ll be returning to you in the next few weeks for some inspiration on that one!

So as the No. 12 Company Irish Guards took up their position in Horse Guards Parade on 30 Nov 2022, it feels appropriate to end with their regiment motto of Quis Separabit?or ‘Who shall separate us?’ Mark & Joel’s vision for Composite Profiles remains unified and as the New and Old Guard settle into their new roles, we look forward to bigger, better and brighter things from Composite Profiles over next 30 years.
