Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme extends to 30 June 2020

Dorset Chambe

The Government has announced an extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to 30 June 2020.

Why is it relevant?

Following confirmation from the Government that the country wide lockdown will continue for at least a further three weeks, this provides more certainty for businesses. It is also likely to save more people from being made redundant.

What should you do?

  1. Prepare for a further extension of the lockdown period and ensure that your business is prepared.
  2. Consider the Furlough agreements you entered into with your employees.
  3. Ensure you review and where necessary, amend such agreements and ensure any variation is recorded in writing and agreed.
  4. If you intend to ‘Furlough’ more employees, ensure that you do so in line with the legal guidance and directions. If you do not, you may not be eligible to reclaim the Furlough payment.
