Cycle speedway world champion at Dolphin Centre

The Dolphin Shopping Centre hosted a special presentation and chance to meet the fans with the Poole-based cycle speedway world champion.

Ben Mould, who is a member of Poole Cycle Speedway Club, was invited to the shopping centre on Saturday, October 19, for a special award ceremony to honour his achievement of winning The International Cycle Speedway Federation World Men’s Championship in Poland this summer.

Ben was joined by the club’s chairman, Graham Sutton, racing manager, Colin Sutton, and a number of children who are part of Poole Cycle Speedway Club, known as The Poole Comets. The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s management team presented Ben with a JD Sports gift voucher in recognition of his success at the international sports competition.

Lisa King, retail liaison manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said: “We were very proud to present Ben with a voucher in recognition of his world champion status. It was great to see people of all ages getting to meet a fantastic sports role model who shows young people what they can achieve if they chase their dreams. The Poole Cycle Speedway Club has won a number of trophies and medals this year and we are pleased to be able to back their success.”

The Dolphin Shopping Centre is the main sponsor of the Poole Cycle Speedway Club, which is based in Harbourside Park, and has sponsored the racing kit used by the junior and senior teams. Cycle Speedway is the cycle racing equivalent of the motorised speedway sport and the Poole Cycle Speedway team was founded in 1974.

Poole Cycle Speedway’s Macie Schmidt picked up the bronze medal in the International Cycle Speedway Federation World Women’s Championship, while Maddie Saunders scooped the silver medal in the under-16s final.
