Dolphin Shopping Centre team volunteers

Management staff at the Dolphin Shopping Centre supported Chestnut Nursery on Wednesday March 20 and Thursday March 21 by volunteering for the charity’s ‘Community Work’ days.

Dolphin staff helped build flat pack benches ready for the new shop which will open on Monday April 8 in Kingland Road, Poole Park.

John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, commented: “I’m so proud of our team for getting stuck in with community volunteering for Chestnut Nursery. We’ve been long-standing supporters of the charity and we want to help them continue to grow and celebrate the success of their future shop.”

Chestnut Nursery is a mental health charity and retail plant nursery, selling a wide variety of perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses and seasonal crops. The nursery uses horticulture to restore well-being for adults with severe and enduring mental illnesses.

A pop-up shop opened at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in September 2018 in Kingland Crescent, selling a variety of plants, preserves and local honey. The temporary shop is trading at the Dolphin while its new retail plant nursery is in construction at Poole Park.

Angela Mansbridge, project manager at Chestnut Nursery, commented: “We’re so grateful to the Dolphin staff for helping us put together our new benches this week. We’re very excited about opening our future shop at the original location of our nursery in Poole Park and hope to raise further awareness of the important work we do.”
