Employment Mental Health Workshop Raises £700 for Dorset Mind

A half day taster workshop created by Ringwood based View HR and Paula Thompson from Stress Right, raised £700 from proceeds of the ticket sales for the mental health charity Dorset Mind.

The cheque was formally presented by Gemma Murphy, who launched View HR over three years ago, to Alexis Stevens, Training Manager from Dorset Mind.  The money will contribute to a new education and support programme called Dorset Mind Your Head that aims to help children and young people live a life that is mentally healthy.

The session covered the stigma of mental health, how to identify issues in the workplace, the causes and effects of stress and how to support both employees and employers.

“We are confident that as representatives from a variety of businesses, the 40 attendees left the workshop with the information that can help them recognise someone in the workplace that has stress related issues at work and react accordingly.   We are now planning an additional seminar for the new year and have developed a training project to roll out to employers that benefits first tear and senior managers as well as business owners,” said Gemma Murphy.
