FOCUS ON RECRUITMENT: Come on 2022….We Are Ready For You!

2021 has been one hell of a year, the most challenging of my 17 years in recruitment; with Covid causing disruption to businesses, sickness and anxiety amongst candidates and employees at an all-time high, a record high level of active job vacancies (nearly 2,7m) and a post-Brexit immigration policy to contend with, it really has been a period of challenges, changes and innovation.

I recently ran a poll on LinkedIn asking what we should expect in relation to Job Vacancies in 2022, and 81% of respondents replied that they expect a further increase in available job roles.

So, what is the solution?

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is an easy answer; we should see some people come back on to the market on completion of seasonal contracts, but I firmly believe that market stabilisation will take a few years and will require many changes in business strategies going forward. In my opinion, the change should be a combination of reviewing the national benefits system, amendments to current immigration policy giving individuals access to temporary work visas regardless of sector or skills, a review of the education system and automation of the processes.

I am sure there will be a variety of opinions as we all try to establish ourselves in this new reality.

Mploy have made many changes to our business in 2021 and have been extremely innovative in trying new solutions, and this has opened up many opportunities within new candidate markets and we shall continue this approach in 2022.

The team at Mploy would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
