Gamechanging cricket tournament wins top backing by Ellis Jones Solicitors

Howzat! – the UK’s first ‘big-hitting’ T10 county cricket tournament is being staged in Dorset with backing from Ellis Jones Solicitors.

Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire’s full men’s sides will ‘slog it out’ in the new short form version of the game at Wimborne Cricket Club on Bank Holiday Monday August 30.

They hope to bowl over more than 500 spectators at the T10 triangular tournament being organised by Dorset County Cricket Club.

Regional law firm Ellis Jones Solicitors – a strong supporter of local clubs through sponsorship and its Sports Law department – has thrown its weight behind the gamechanging event.

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “The T10 triangular tournament promises to hit everyone for six with fast-paced action and excitement.

“As a longstanding supporter of Wimborne Cricket Club and other local sports teams, we’re pleased to act as ‘twelfth man’ to help this innovative event take place.”

Ellis Jones – with more than 160 staff and 18 Partners – is one of the main sponsors of the extravaganza along with the Hendy Group.

It has an office in East Street, Wimborne, as well as in Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs (Poole), Ringwood, Swanage and London.

T10, or Ten10, is a new form of shorter, faster cricket in which two teams play a single innings of just 10 overs each.

Barry Lewis, DCCC secretary, said: “This is the first tournament of its kind to be played in the UK.

“We’re expecting a great deal of interest, including attendance by officials from the National Counties Cricket Association, including its operations director former first class cricketer Richard Logan.

“There will be an excellent standard of cricket with some big hitting, fast-paced play and a lot of fun throughout the day.”

Ellis Jones sponsors Wimborne’s cricket and football clubs as well as Swanage Cricket Club, Came Down Golf Club and Oakmedians RFC in Bournemouth. It is also the trusted legal advisor for Pure Golf Management.

Ellis Jones’ Sports Law Department provides a wide range of legal services for amateur, semi-professional and professional sports men and women, teams, clubs, organisations and governing bodies.
